Whether you are a barista, a salesperson, a receptionist or customer service representative you are often the first impression a customer has of your company or organization. Maybe you don’t like your job or are hoping for advancement, but your first impression makes a difference to others. Perhaps the woman who orders the double latte with soymilk and vanilla flavoring shaken slightly before served is the woman who you have an interview set up with later in the week. Or you are having a bad day and the last thing you need is another request to be done before you end your day. Showing attitude may not be the way to go or to grow. Your first impression will be a lasting one and could make or break your career advancement.
And for self-important customer who treats the barista as a low life - you may be staring at the boss’s daughter who is taking over the company next month.
ROXIE TIP: Treat people with friendliness and respect in your daily routine. You never know who they are and what they could mean to you later!

Top Three Reasons A Recruiter Doesn't Call!
Roxie will hear complaints from candidates she has met with about the fact that they have not been placed. A typical complaint is "I signed up with you months ago and have not gotten a job".
First of all you don't sign up with a recruiter, you may meet with them which is a really smart way to increase your chances of finding work as you search on your own. You are not paying a recruiter honey (if you were they you could complain all you like) the client is, so a recruiter is only going to focus on filling the jobs they are currently working on.
To follow are a few reasons that your recruiter may NOT be calling (these are the hard facts)
1.) the right fit has not presented itself (you may be fabulous honey but I have not seen the fabulous company that will benefit from your talents and qualifications)
2.) it has been a while and you are off the radar (keeping in touch is two-way street, you need to be top of mind so reach out once in awhile let me know you are still looking)
3.) You failed the interview with the recruiter (you may not have had the qualifications for a specific job or you are not the type of candidate the recruiter is looking for. Where you late? Do you have the skills required? Did you chew gum and answer your phone? Are you under qualified for the jobs you are applying for?
Things to consider before you register a complaint, Recruiters want to help you it is just that we are paid to find the best possible candidates with the specific qualifications that our clients are looking for. It may not be YOU but if it is YOU rest assured we will campaign for you to get the job!
